Soviet/Russian M43 map case
There is not a whole lot of information but we think this is the M43 version of the Soviet era military map case.
The production of these continued after the war, the leather was changed to leather imitation(like this one) otherwise they look quite like.
This particular is from 1952(see stamp).
It remain in excellent condition, as far as we can see it's complete with no missing parts.
