DDR, Grenztruppen Oberst service uniform
Service uniform for an officer serving within the Grenztruppen der DDR, the East German border troops. The shoulder boards indicate the rank of Oberst, the highest possible officer rank.
On the jackets left side is an impressive 12-piece ribbon bar with medals for 5, 10, 15 & 20 years of loyal service, Verdienstmedaillen in bronze, silver & gold, Waffenbrüderschaftmedaille in silver and gold, medaille für Grenzdienst, Verdienstmedaille der DDR and the Kampforden in bronze. On the jackets right side a general qualification clasp, 3rd class.
Older style machine embroidered collar tabs, regulation correct attachment with machine stitches. Armband correctly attached with the inner lining untouched.
This rare set comes with uniform jacket, trousers, shirt, tie, leather belt and visor cap.
Good condition with normal traces of wear!
