Nationalsozialistischer Arbeitsdienst (NSAD), Förderer "Franken" badge

Here is a hard to find badge from NSDAD which was the name of RAD before 1935.

Maker marked RZM 14 for Matthias Öchsler & Sohn A.G. Metallwarenfabrik Ansbach/Bayern .

Made of bronze. Roughly 18 x 18 mm(Like a party badge).

This actual badge was given to contributors who gave money to the organisation, most often on a monthly basis. The word Förderer mean sponsor.

You can find similar badges for example the SS-FM badge/pin.

Short history

First we have FAD - Freiwilliger Arbeitsdienst (Voluntary Labor Service) 1931-33 then it was named NSAD
National-Sozialistischer Arbeitsdienst (Nazi Labor Service) still voluntary but it was soon made a requirement for those wishing to study at a university or make a career in the NSDAP. Typical of the pressure used by the NSDAP to get people to join up. Then in 1935 - 45 we have RAD - Reich Arbeitsdienst (State Labor Service) it no longer was a voluntary but compulsory.
