German WW2 Wehrmacht Cap badge 11th Panzer - Division "Angern"
A hard to find badge from the famous Ghost division.
The badge features a ghost figure on a tank, reflecting the division's nickname.
This is the S.R.110 Schützenregiment unit badge and would have been worn on the side of the cap or on the uniform pocket or lapel.
There are similar badges with other regiment numbers.
Although not marked this badge is produced by the company Carl Wild and was part of a factory find(a lot of badges, awards, etc were found).
Made of silver washed brass.
Diameter 25,8 mm.
Excellent condition, no damages.
HISTORY
The 11. Panzer-Division, also known as the "Ghost Division" (Gespenster-Division), had a badge featuring a ghost-like figure on a tank. This emblem was officially adopted by the division, though its tactical symbol was a circle with a vertical line.
The division was formed on August 1, 1940, and was considered a highly reliable unit by the German High Command.
The division fought on both the Eastern and Western Fronts, including significant battles in France and Russia.
