Kriegsmarine Matrosenobergefreiter's Collani / Service uniform

A great example of a Kriegsmarine Junior NCO’s Pea Jacket to a Matrosenobergefreiter Radio Operator.

Kriegsmarine so-called "Überzieher" tunic. Nick-named "Colani" due to the name of the tailor "Berger & Colani" (Berlin/Kiel) which was a famous distributor for the Imperial German navy.

What differs this uniform from many others are the amount of awards(5 of them at least).

The sailor was awarded the War Merit Cross and the Iron Cross as you can see on the ribbons sewn in one of the button holes.

There are loops for three additional loops. So our guess is that he was also awarded the first class Iron Cross and one or two KM awards.

Breast eagle, machine-embroidered NCO/EM breast eagle, hand sewn.

Sleeve insignia, both machine sewn. The flash indicates that the wearer was a radio operator. The rank insignia is for a Matrosenobergefreiter.

Collar tabs, machine sewn.

Constructed in a heavy ribbed wool material it is closed by five double rows of gilt buttons all marked on the reverse Kriegsmarine and with a mix of dates of 1939 and 40.

Inside, the Jacket is lined with a heavy ribbed material with two pockets.

Overall condition is very good. No major damages. Some small repairs which is common to see after a long service.

This uniform comes from Norway and as probably collected after the war.
