German WW Army TSD Hauptmann's tunic

Thanks to the very nice label on the inside of the pocket we can date this tunic exactly to May 26th 1935. We also know the name of the original owner"Gärtner", and that he was a Zahlmeister in Infantry Regiment 57.

We also know that the tunic was made by the company Gustav Bender in Siegen.

At the end of the war in 1944 , tunics like this was adapted/transferred to the logistic middle blue ( Dragoner blau) piping, only replacing the badges, not the pipings and cuffs patches: not a problem, only the reality !

Meaning that this was worn in duty instead of just beeing a dress uniform.

This was done to save material and reuse what already existed saving material for the war effort.

Sometimes you can see these with 4 pockets added to be like a regular field uniform.

So this uniform started as a Heeresverwaltung Zahlmeister Waffenrock and in 1944 with the new regulation changed to a Truppensonderdienst (TSD) field uniform.

Very good early quality wool construction.

The cloth is in excellent condition, we can't see any holes but of course there are some traces of wear, with all the information provided about we know it was in service for around 10 years.

Eagle is hand sewn to the tunic, handembroided Officer's version. Near mint condition.

Sewn in shoulder boards indicate the rank of Hauptmann, the “Ikaros” insignia stands for Truppensonderdienst .

Two sets of award loops and one for a ribbon bar.

Badges are not included.
