Wehrmacht marching compass.
This is the "Marschkompass, Vereinfacht" (Marching compass, simplified), which was introduced 1940, when the older version was found to expensive to manufacture and it also used a lot of metal which was needed for more important things in the German war machine.
This particular compass was made by Max Kohl AG, Physikalische Apparate u. Laboratoriums Einrichtungen, Chemnitz, but apparently they didn't have their own Bakelite Presswerk. Their whole compass production came from the same sub-contractor. This can be seen on the marking on the back, "OW", which remains un-identified.
We can date this compass to after August 1941. Before that the MK logo would have been seen, but since new identification regulations came in place this was removed.
Max Kohl was also the only company that used this type of lid of the compass.
Overall this compass is in excellent working condition. No damages.
Perfect in a display or on a equipped mannequin.
