German WW2 Wehrmacht 'Masten-Brille' glasses with case
A Masten-Brille (more commonly spelled Maskenbrille in German) served a very specific purpose for visually impaired soldiers: prescription eyeglasses designed specifically to be worn inside a gas mask. Soldiers requiring vision correction were issued these as part of their standard gas protection kit, keeping the glasses inside or alongside their gas mask canister at all times.
