German WW2 Army Officer's visor cap - Green piping
Top quality visor cap, it was a private purchase since it has the 'Extra klasse' label inside.
"Extraklasse" literally translates to "Extra Class" or "First Class." It signaled that the cap was crafted using premium materials, such as, Fine wool fabrics (like doeskin or tricot) rather than coarse field wool.
Seeing "Extraklasse" stamped inside a visor cap means it was a tailor-made, premium private-purchase cap purchased at the officer's or soldier's own expense, rather than a mass-issued standard military item.
Overall a very nice cap. Visor, chinstrap and insignia are all in excellent condition. The army green wool is also beautiful. There are some tiny imperfections but nothing that distracts and can barely be seen.
Sweatband with some light wear but no rips or tears.
The piping is dark green and it's always difficult to say for sure which branch it was used for since different makers used different color dyes etc.
Most likely the color is for Gebirgsjäger, Heeresbeamte or Sonderführer.
Either way this is a top choice visor cap.
