Vietnamn war - RVN Vietnam Special Forces Luc Luong Gioi Tuyen badge
RVN Republic of Vietnam (South) Vietnamese Special Forces badge.
A very hard to find badge with a striking design, a skull with a arrow or dagger through it.
Text on the front says "luc luong gioi tuyen" = Special/Elite forces.
All these badges, no matter North or South Vietnamese were made of rather low quality material.
Good used condition, look a bit better in hand.
HISTORY:
The Exploitation Forces were in operation from early 1957 and were CIA (SOE) Trained and controlled.
Utilised in circumstances where opportunistic situations could be exploited to the maximum gain of the Allied Forces.
They were highly trained (some to US Special Forces Standards and all considered Special Forces by Vietnam standards). They were the fore-runners of the Mobile Guerrilla Forces and Mike Forces. Often operating as mercenary groups (This unit for example).
These sort of units had all but disappeared by late 1969.
