US Army WW2 M4 PAL / M8A1 combat knife
The M4 bayonet was a World War II-era dual-purpose bayonet and combat knife.
This particular piece is marked US M4 PAL manufactured by the Pal Blade and Tool Co.
Introduced in 1944 specifically for the M1 Carbine, it was built on the M3 fighting knife design and features a distinctive stacked leather handle
Scabbard is marked "US M8A1 VP CO" on the front. VP stands for the manufacturer Victory Plastics Co.
Scabbard is also marked VP 45, again for the manufacturer Victory....and the year of production 1945.
Handle has the two pin pommel which was only used during WW2.
The leather handle was only used 1944-1945, so this confirm that this is a WW2 issued knife and scabbard.
Overall good used condition.
