British WWII BMB 1944 HSDR Dispatch Rider Helmet w/ Net & Greek Commando/LOK Markings
An original WWII British Helmet Steel Dispatch Rider (HSDR) manufactured in 1944 by Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd (BMB). Designed specifically for motorcycle dispatch riders and tank crews requiring heavy-duty head protection and integrated leather ear/chinstrap harnesses.
This particular helmet also features post-war historical provenance, having seen continued service with elite Greek forces (Commandos / LOK) during the post-WWII period.
Stamped BMB 1944 clearly on the leather liner headband, accompanied by the War Department broad arrow acceptance shield containing the size stamp 7.
Complete original Dispatch Rider leather neck and ear curtain featuring the classic 7-hole starburst ventilation cluster over the ears, front eyelet adjustment lacing, and internal webbing suspension.
Inscribed on the interior leather in ink with Greek military markings (Λοχ Σολμος), attributing its post-war issue to Greek airborne/commando units during the post-war era.
Comes fitted with an original vintage small-mesh knotted olive camouflage helmet net.
Excellent combat-used condition. The leather lining remains excellent with nice patina, the steel shell retains dark green field paint, and all stamps are crisp and legible.
