Finnish Winter war medal with Swords 'KAINUU'.
This is an official Miniature Finnish Winter War Commemorative Medal (1939–1940) (Talvisodan muistomitali - pienoismitali). Miniature medals were worn on evening dress uniforms, formal tuxedos, or civilian mess dress by Finnish veterans.
Excellent condition. Magnetic, blackened metal.
Front shows a Finnish solider, dressed in winter camouflage, firing his rifle, on the left and right side are emblems for Finlands different regions, at the bottom 1939/1940 and at the top a crown with two arms holding sword. Reverse says "Kunnia Isänmaa" (For the fatherland).
Complete with a campaign bar "KAINUU" and swords(awarded to a front soldier).
The clasp specifies that the soldier served during the intense battles along the Kainuu front in eastern/central Finland (famous for operations around Suomussalmi and the Raate Road).
This is clasp is considered rare.
