Finnish Liberty Cross 4th Class, Mourning Cross 1939
The 4th Class (VR 4 sururisti) is a posthumous award for the next-of-kin of fallen Finnish soldiers from the Winter War (1939-1940), identical in design to the 4th Class Cross of Liberty but worn with a black ribbon (not red) to signify mourning.
A female next of kin has the right to wear the Cross of Mourning, with the order of precedence being wife, eldest daughter, and mother. If there are no female next of kin, the cross is awarded to the closest male relative, who does not have the right to wear it.
Roughly 24 000 pcs were made, so rather uncommon.
Cross is made of silver with black enemal.
Excellent condition.
Original black ribbon formed like a lady's bow.
