Finnish WW1 Häme (Tavastia) Infantry battalion unit badge
A very very hard to find unit badge from a battalion.
If you collection Finnish badges you know this is a rare one.
Roughly 34 x 31 mm
Very good condition.
As standard for these badges, The battalion badge was previously a police cockade, but to symbolize that it belonged to the battalion, the crown was broken off as a symbol of independence.
All crowns and eagles were very unpopular in 1918
Basically everything Finnish that has a krona is from before 1917
These badges are rarer without a crown, some think that the one with the crown also belonged to the battalion, but I am of a different opinion. The original pictures I have seen so far have been without a crown.
