Finnish Lotta Svärd member's badge
Every official Lotta Svärd membership pin was issued with a unique sequential serial number stamped on the reverse.
The organization issued roughly 171,000 numbered membership badges before it was dissolved in late November 1944 as a condition of the Moscow Armistice.
This is the 1st type made of silver rather than nickel-silver, all badges before 1940 were made of silver like this one.
It's clearly marked on the back with the serial number 80737 as well as a nice set of silver stamps. G6 indicates that it was produced in 1936, just a few years before the Finnish Winter War started. The small boat outline represents the city mark for Helsinki (Helsingfors), meaning it was manufactured there.
Excellent condition!
Designed by artist Erik Vasström in September 1921. It features a blue enameled swastika (the ancient Finnish heraldic symbol of good fortune, unrelated to the Nazi Party) flanked by four heraldic roses.
