German WW2 RLB, first pattern, member's badge in silver
For the Reichsluftschutzbund (RLB — National Air Raid Protection League) badges, the distinction between the silver and bronze versions of the 1st Pattern (used from 1933 until around 1938) comes down strictly to rank and organizational hierarchy:
The Round, Fully Enameled Badge (This new badge): The starburst symbol is set onto a solid, circular background filled with translucent blue enamel.
This variation was typically reserved for RLB Officials, functionaries, or higher-ranking personnel (Amtsträger / Amtsträgerabzeichen). The blue enamel border added a level of distinction to separate leaders or official staff from regular members.
Diameter roughly 18 mm.
Maker marked Aurich, Dresden, Ges Gesch.
There is a chip to the upper right, otherwise in very good condition.
A rather hard to find badge.
