SA Sport - Military Defence Armband
(SA -Wehrmannschaften Armbinde).
This is a textbook example of the armband type that collectors have long referred to as the SA Sports Armband.
It was actually worn by members of the SA-Wehrmannschaft, a paramilitary branch of the SA that was involved with military training of civilians during WWII.
The armband is made of a red cotton material. It has a machine applied, Bevo machine woven roundel, with features a gold-colored woven swastika and sword, surrounded by a wreath.
This is the design of the SA Sports Badge, which is why it was assumed by many that this was an SA Sports Armband.
This armband is complete and remains stitched together in the back, as it would have been issued and worn.
Nice RZM paper label on the inside.
Label says M4/166 which indicate that the manufacturer was Albert Winkler, based in Ruhla. This company was contracted to manufacture metal uniform fittings and insignia for party organizations like the Hitler Youth (Hitlerjugend)
This armband has no holes and displays nicely. It is in excellent ++ condition.
