The Friedrich August medals awarded in peacetime (from 1905 to 1914) were worn on a yellow ribbon with a black side stripe and a narrower black center stripe on the left breast.
Instituted on 23 April 1905 by King Friedrich August III of Saxony, and awarded for acknowledgement of notable service by enlisted men or NCOs and comparable civil service ranks in either war or peace. The bronze medal was awarded to enlisted men.
