German WW2 Berlin Olympics 1936 plaque
A very hard to find plaque.
This is the golden version, the highest class.
Text on the front says "Im Jahre der Olympischen vorbereitung 1935", translates to "In the year of the Olympic preparation 1935".
Text on the back says "Für besondere verdienste um die Olympiade 1936", translates to "For special service in the 1936 Olympics".
Maker marked "Deschler München".
Very heavy, around 160 grams.
Diameter roughly 80 mm.
Condition is excellent, no damages. Very hard to capture the golden tone, look very good in hand.
This and several other variants are all produced by the company Deschler. Many years ago our picker friend in Germany got a call from someone clearing out the old Deschler warehouse. These are all unissued and in many cases rare prototypes, for example for events that never took place. We were lucky to be able and buy the last of them. Please note that these are not from the so called Deschler hoarde find, there mainly awards like the war merit cross were found. No plaques like this.
