German WW1 Mecklenburg-Strelitz War merit cross 2nd class 1914
(Kreuz für Auszeichnung im Kriege 2. Klasse).
Instituted 1 January 1915 by Grand Duke Adolf Friedrich IV. (1915-1923 issue).
We think it's made of silver washed brass.
Front show a sross Pattée with ribbed arms, the obverse bearing a central wreathed monogram of Grand Duke Adolf Friedrich IV, the six o’clock arm bearing a date of “1914”.
Back is bearing a central wreathed inscription of “TAPFER UND TREU” (“BRAVERY AND LOYALTY”).
No ribbon which most of these don't have.
A rather hard to find cross.
Offered for a very good price compared to what other dealers ask and get!
