German WW2 Reserve-Luftsperr-Abteilung 207 Medaille 1939
A very hard to find medal.
The Luftsperr means Barrage balloons in english and were large, hydrogen-filled tethered balloons used primarily during WWII to defend cities, ships, and industrial areas against low-level enemy aircraft. They forced planes to fly higher, making them vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire. The steel cables posed a severe collision risk.
Issued at Christmas 1939.
Made of silverwashed tombak/buntmetal.
Diameter 33 mm.
With blue original ribbon.
