The green cloth indicate that it was issued to the army or SS.
The shield is made of stamped, magnetic, sheet metal with a bronze wash
The cloth with the shield but is not attached to the shield.
The shield is uniform removed for sure.
Harder to find version with side prongs, one is missing.
Overall good used condition.

HISTORY:
The shield was presented to those who defended the bridgeheads in the Kuban region from February 1943 until they were abandoned in October. The criteria for Heer and auxiliary forces was as follows,
-To have served in the bridgehead for 60 days.
-To have been wounded while serving on the bridgehead.
-To have been engaged in one major operation at the bridgehead.
Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine personnel were awarded the shield based on a fairly complicated point system.
Each recipient was entitled to five copies of the award, and more could be purchased, if needed, through the appropriate LDO outlet by producing the certificate of entitlement. In case of death, a single shield was presented to the next of kin along with a possession certificate.
