German WW2 SA Brigade 41 - Greiz - Thüringen-Ost - June 30th 1934

A very hard to find badge.

These dates are historically significant as they coincide with the "Night of the Long Knives," a purge where the leadership of the SA was targeted by the regime. This badge would have been produced for a regional rally held just as these events were unfolding.

As the story goes Himmler and Goebels made a story up about the SA wanted to get rid of Hitler which infuriated him and acted immediately to get rid of the SA leadership. Other story is that the Wehrmacht leadership didn't want to compete with another army in Germany and to have to full allegiance of the Wehrmacht, Hitler had the SA leadership taken on false predence.

Made of stamped brass. Diameter 40 mm.

Excellent condition.

NOTE: On the last badge you see another badge that came from the same find. Note that the badge has the same design but different text. Both of these badges are for sure produced by the same manufacturer. Both cities named on each badge is close to each other.
