German WW2 RLB, first pattern, member's badge in silver
For the Reichsluftschutzbund (RLB — National Air Raid Protection League) badges, the distinction between the silver and bronze versions of the 1st Pattern (used from 1933 until around 1938) comes down strictly to rank and organizational hierarchy:
Bronze Badge: Worn by standard members or low-ranking, entry-level officials within the civil defense organization.
Silver Badge: Reserved for middle-ranking functionaries and mid-level officials who held operational or leadership roles within local or regional air defense chapters.
This the silver version.
Diameter roughly 18 mm. This is the smaller version mainly used on civilian clothes.
Maker marked Aurich, Dresden, Ges Gesch.
Very good condition.
