German WW2 KDF GAU Danzig meeting badge
This is a hard to find badge from the Free city of Danzig(in noth of Poland today) which was a part of the German Reich.
The elongated shield features a high-relief architectural depiction of historic Danzig, highlighting the tower of the Main Town Hall (Rechtstädtisches Rathaus) and the famous Neptune Fountain (Neptunbrunnen) on the Langer Markt. The upper-left corner displays the traditional Danzig city emblem (stacked crosses), while a scroll banner across the lower section bears the inscription "GAU DANZIG". The base is anchored by a sunburst design featuring a central swastika.
This typ of sunburst was the official emblem of the KdF (Kraft durch Freude / "Strength Through Joy"—the Nazi state leisure organization).
A rather large badge, roughly 85 x 25 mm.
Overall good used condition.
