German WW2 Air Raid Protection / Luftschutz medal 2nd class '60'
"Für Verdienste im Luftschutz", (For Meritorious Service in Air Defence). Awarded to personal who belonged to the Luftschutz (Air raid protection).
Excellent condition, not far from near mint.
With the correct ribbon and safety pin device on the back.
Medal is made of aluminium.
Also included from the same place it was found is a matching ribbon bar.
From the ribbon bar you can tell that the wearer was a former WW1 soldier who earned the iron cross.
Later around 1933 he received the Hindenburg cross with swords for his WW1 service.
Since he was probably too old to serve in the regular army during WW2 he was enlisted in the Air defence where he earned the War merit cross with swords and the Luftschutz medal second class.
These are ribbon bars with the small Luftschutz medal miniature on is really hard to find.
